5th Gen Uber Tier

Hey guys and gals. With 5th gen now here the question has come up about Tiers for 5th gen so I created this thread for those that want to make suggestions about what should be considered Uber. You noticed I said nothing about OU,UU, or NU, as truthfully I HATE tiers lol. I strongly believe as Karen of the Elite 4 said that we should play with our favorites and tiers tends to restrict some players from doing this, fearing insults for using all OU's and such. Those who use Tiers if it works then awesome and please continue if you love it. Our forum embraces all lol. Ubers however is a hot topic amongst many battlers and is the only restricted tier so to speak which is why this topic was made. If you have suggestions for 5th gen or even the current Ubers please post it and state why. Please do not insult or criticize others opinions or action will be taken. Let's make this a fun topic. Zekrom, Reshiram only. They should be uber because of their high stats. In my eyes those are the only two ubers. All or most others have two high stats but the rest are low.

-Latios/Latias are back to OU without Soul Dew, however with Soul Dew, they're Uber.
-Haxorus is Uber with Dragon Dance. (Or without, depends on the situation.)
-Kyurem is Uber. (Depend on how well it can cover it's weaknesses.)
-Genesect is Uber.
-Meloetta MAY be Uber, I don't know.
-Hydreigon is debatable.
-Salamence may go back to OU.
-Garchomp may also go back to OU, but it's more likely to stay in Uber.
-Mew, Mewtwo, Ho-oh, Lugia, Wobbuffet, Wynaut, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Deoxys N/A/D/S, Palkia, Dialga, Giratina A/O, Manaphy, Arceus, Shaymin S and Darkrai are staying.

Those are my thoughts/predictions.

To follow up cmndrs quote, i would imagine those that prove too powerful to use in the main or are too central, ie everyone uses them because they pwn everything, should be considered uber, the list could be flexible (pokes enter/exit uber tier depending on strategies, certain gym types etc). That would be my thought on it anyway.

Not that I really like the classing of Pokémon, for Ubers however an unfair advantage can sometimes be frustrating. As regards to who I think should be Uber. I completely agree with Titan on everything and I would add to that list that maybe Chandelure (Mostly because of its high spA stat and its decent defenses and speed) Would probably only be Uber because of Shadow Tag in my opinion.

Hm... well it seems to be a good idea to make our own forums lists. Speed Boost Blaziken became Uber o_0 Although it's not like it has no reason to be.

Also, can we have different rules in the gyms for battling with Dream World ablities and battling with no Dream World abilities?

no, I think it's stupid to have a different tier because of dreamworld abilities. Some abiities may be banned though, but that's an entirely different matter

Contrary Serperior is a good candidate for being banned, as well as Drought Ninetales, and Drizzle Politoed. The reason Tyranitar and Hippowdon aren't banned (Sand Stream) is because Sandstorm only raises Rock type Defense has 20%, and only affects the abilties Sand Veil, Sand Rush and Sand Force, while Drought and Drizzle benefit Swift Swimmers, and powerful Water types, with powerful Water type moves (Kingdra for example), as well a Fire type sweepers. (Darmanitan for example.) But speaking of that, Sand Force/Sand Rush Excadrill may also be considered banned/cheap. Look at it's stats, and you'll see why. Conkeldurr is...........meh. It's broken, but Reuniclus can easily counter it.

Pidgey is staying in NFE. It's not even going in LU.

Great comments guys, and I made this topic precisely for this reason, to see members thoughts. However banning pokes due to abilities or even dreamworld is precisely what I don't want here. It essentially would be tailoring rules to benefit only gym leaders and is truthfully silly in my opinion. Ubers are deemed too powerful for competitve play, which is true but there should be a limit. Pokemon such as Chandelure with shadow tag or even haxorus with dragon dance may be deadly but are not impossible to defeat. There are new challenges in 5th gen that I feel we all need to adapt to but that's the fun part. We don't want to ban alot of pokes just because they perhaps got better in 5th gen or gained a better ability. I can think of a ton of pokemon that way.

I was listing ideas about Smogon Tier changes, and banned sets, since Smogon is what everyone follows. (in terms of Tiers)

I did not mean banning Dragon Dance Haxorus here, I was stating that it has a possibility to be in the Uber Tier.

The Drizzle/Drought scenario was there for people to be aware, (because they are actually banned on Smogon)

Ubers aren't impossible to take down, but they ARE hard to take down, as many of them have decent movepools, sky high stats, and great typing. In fact, OUs are the only known ones to be able to fare against Ubers. (NU users, calm down. It's an opinion.)

In conclusion, I apologize if it seemed like I was considering what to ban from here. I wasn't implying that.

It seems that you may have misunderstood my comment bud. I personally never thought you were implying anything. This thread is for thoughts and opinions, and all members are welcome to share. My comments were based on comments I have read before and conversations I have had in the past about 5th gen. Many members are not in agreement with all the bans and requests to ban in 5th gen, which is the reason we are looking into making our own OP list ( Over Powered ). 5th gen has made vast improvements in lots and lots of pokemon, The Metagame in general has changed dramatically which comes with drastic changes that all battlers need to adapt to. Many of us are still accustomed to 4th gen metagames and what was once considered to be too powerful for standard battling. With new changes comes new ideas and strategies to deal with new threats, which is exciting in my opinion lol.

Oh, sorry then, I thought that was directed at me, since I was the only one so far here that stated ideas. =/

i woud sav maby in th4 5th gen salamence might go to be OU and Latios/Latias maby be OU with out Soul Drew Zekrom and Reshiram are ubers no don't about it

._. Salamence and Garchomp are no longer Uber, Soul Dew is illegal so Latios and Latias aren't Uber, Speed Boost Blaziken is Uber, Shadow Tag Chandelure is Uber... and yeah. Watch some 5th Gen battlers, they know most of the tiers... OU anyway
